Porcelain
Porcelain is a century-old material with a characteristic delicacy that is used in different objects most often with a shining surface. In this exhibition, 5 artists are using porcelain to create their objects each with a unique and specific idioom.
Marjan de Voogd her work is based on intuitive visual impulses and at the same time linked to the classical ceramic container. She presents works, which form is based on a Chinese portal and the colors reflect the delicate coloring of the Chinese emperial porcelain. She uses her pigments as working on a painting and during the firing, the colors are joined to dynamic compositions. Her latest work is inspired on nature and she constructs vases by the use of individual stripes of porcelain, that is joined to semi-transparent structures.
Mieke Everaert shows delicate containers with abstract patterns of black, blue and white repetitive units. In her newer work, she concentrates on the form in a monochromic coloring.
Maria ten Kortenaar is inspired by nature and expresses her feelings in colorful containers with floral elements. These elements are sometimes very recognizable and sometimes abstract.
Chinese calligraphy is the inspiration of Yuk-Kan Yeung. The directness and the balanced movement of Chinese calligraphy is added to lyric porcelain objects. The containers have a light feeling to which the delicate coloring increases their impact. In her most recent work, she moves away of this delicacy and uses the porcelain in an unconventional way to induce the primal force of the Chinese mountains.
Guy van Leemput makes containers that are based on geometry. The repetitive patterns are the base of the construction and by the transparency and delicacy of the production, his paper-like vases seem to float in space.
The exhibition runs from 24/03/2018 tem 24/06/2018 and is open on Saturday and Sunday from 14:00-16:00 hours and by appointment (GSM: 0494-285894)
