Anton Reijnders: solo exhibition
This solo exhibition shows work by Anton Reijnders. Anton Reijnders is searching for meaning in his compositions of ceramics and other materials (e.g., textile, wood, rubber). While some of the components are easily recognizable (e.g., ceramic tree, foot, kidney, bladder), they acquire a new meaning in the composition. This makes that the intrinsic meaning of the objects is lost and that the viewer has to fill in the void by assumptions.
The older work he shows are his stackings, in which he combines different material and forms to one sculptural object. They have a delicate color scheme and induce a feeling of fragility.
The series ‘Nomen nescio’ reflect that there is no name apt to identify the object and that the viewer has to look for the stillness in the object.
Ex voto refers to the human condition of sickness and his/her aim to get better by the help of a higher force.
He is still searching to the perfect composition and form, although he did find his own language/idioom. In his latest work ‘Ataraxia’ this perfect form is an egg-like structure that is presented on a green construction and symbolizes calmness.
The exhibition runs from 23/07/2016 until 23/10/2016 and is open on Saturday and Sunday from 14:00-16:00 hours or after appointment (++32(0)494-285894)
