A vase is a vase is a vase?
In this exhibition 4 artists are exploring the “vase” in their work.
Mieke Blits shows her double vases. The work has an organic feeling and the soft coloring increases this impression. The objects are executed in different size and the combination of different works increases their impact in the room.
Esther Stasse constructs geometric black forms around a container. The work is very architectural and is a continuation of the work she is making since her graduation at the Rietveld Academy.
Grainne Watts’s 'Bindu' series refer to organic forms, combining wheel thrown elements with coiling to create large rounded forms that gently rock. She uses layers of color to create movement with intricate 'dot' patterns. This body of work explores the 'dot' in a visual and tactile way, symbolizing' the beginning of everything'.
Derek Wilson creates work that varies from functional to sculptural. His ideas spring from a complex blending of the abstract to the familiar, evident in both the functional ware and sculpture. The objects, in their colour, shape and materiality, reference the ideas of restraint, containment and minimalism.
The exhibition runs from 16/09/2017 tem 03/12/2017 and is open on Saturday and Sunday from 14:00-16:00 and after appointment 0494-285894
